LIPOSARCOMA, tumore maligno
LIPOSARCOMA, tumore maligno originato dalle cellule del tessuto grassoso. E', insieme al fibrosarcoma, uno dei più comuni tumori delle parti molli, cioè delle strutture non scheletriche di arti e tronco. Insorge preferibilmente a livello delle cosce e dello spazio retroperitoneale, nella profondità dell'addome, ma tutte le parti del corpo possono esserne còlpite. Il liposarcoma assume discrete dimensioni, infiltra e distrugge le parti sane vicine come tutti i sarcomi, è di consistenza piuttosto dura con aree traslucide o giallastre, provoca dolore e tumefazione della parte; se compare in sedi profonde, non esplorabili dall'esterno, lo si diagnostica ricorrendo alla radiografia e all'angiografia, cioè all'iniezione di sostanze, opache ai raggi, nei vasi sanguigni che vanno al tumore e che così ne disegnano una specie di immagine.
